How Does Cybis Create Lasting Impact through Event Messaging?

With Guest Contributor Kenny, CYBIS Scriptwriter & Stage Manager

My experience in radio, television, and live performances has given me a love for storytelling. When I joined Cybis in 2007 after meeting Jeff at a career fair, I quickly grew to appreciate how live events are a fantastic opportunity to leave a lasting impact – inspire people to do something great. At Cybis, I’ve evolved into a multifaceted production specialist—a sort of “Swiss Army knife”—responsible for everything from script writing and stage management to directing and on-site logistics.

Establishing the Vision

As I see it, the core of our approach at Cybis is a deep understanding of every client’s vision. That takes some serious dedication to relationship building. Over the years, working with recurring clients has allowed us to develop a kind of “secret language.” With just a few quick words (which likely wouldn’t make sense to anyone else) we can grasp their complete vision. It’s a phenomenal rapport that streamlines communication and frees our clients from micromanaging every detail. They get to focus on their core message.

Designing the Blueprint: Script Writing as the Heartbeat

For me, the script is a type of heartbeat that guides the entire production. It sets the rhythm for every element of the event. Think of it as a playbook that covers everything you need – not just the teleprompter. When I write, I’m always thinking of:

  • Audio & Lighting: Transitions can be intensely dramatic for an audience.
  • Visuals & Graphics: Slick and impactful visuals can help deliver messaging in a way the audience won’t forget.
  • Movement on the Stage: Positioning and movement are a huge part of storytelling on any stage, and they can amplify any message when done right.

As a practical example, if there’s a motivational quote, I’ll plan an accompanying visual display that fits the tone the client wants and gets an even bigger emotional response from the audience. In short, I love to make every moment count.

The Swiss Army Knife Approach: Versatility in Action

“Adaptability” defines my career at Cybis, and it’s a great mini-example of what Cybis is about. Early on, I handled every task I could—from MC-ing and voiceovers to setting up and projectors to even show calling and running graphics…and so on and so on! With a background in various forms of live entertainment, I quickly learned to fill in wherever the need arose. This flexibility became my calling card, and it’s one of the best things Cybis offers:

  • Lasting Relationships: Clients get a consistent team who knows them inside and out once they start working with us.
  • Adaptable Team Members: We’re always ready to jump in and integrate every aspect of the production seamlessly. Nothing beats an event that runs like a well-oiled machine.

Having a set of tools at your disposal is great. But having a bunch of Swiss Army knives who can all do whatever’s needed means that Cybis’ productions are as reliable as they are impactful.

Bringing It All to Life: Stage Management & On-Site Execution

No matter how detailed the script, it all needs to comes to life on stage. We can take on the roles of conductor and coach because we’re so familiar with what our clients need, and everything focuses on audience experience. To make it the best it can be:

  • We Time Cues Perfectly: Precision with lights, music, or even gestures from the people on stage. Developing ideas in the lead-up is great. Seeing them executed like a symphony is awe-inspiring.
  • Presenters and Performers Shine: It’s funny how, if you treat someone like a rockstar, they often perform like a rockstar. That’s what we aim for. We bring everything they need so they can take the stage with confidence…and audiences eat it up.

Every decision we make on-site is geared toward an immersive, multisensory experience for the audience. In a way, our client’s audience is the real client! If you hit them with something impactful, it's incredible how long they remember and are shaped by it.

Inspiring Lives Through Unforgettable Events

At the end of the day, my work boils down to a simple belief: every event should inspire people. Yes, the audience, but also the people who work on it. Corporate seminars, leadership events, or entertainment-infused fundraisers - our goal is to create moments the audience carries with them. When someone leaves a Cybis event, I want them to be motivated and energized. Our production can transform a simple gathering into a story-driven, heavy-hitting experience. And I’m proud to be part of an entire team that shares the same vision.
